#FloridaMan replaces American flag with Confederate flag at closed SWFL restaurant
As peaceful protests took place across Southwest Florida last week, someone replaced an American flag with a Confederate flag at a closed Perkins Restaurant in Bonita Springs.
The Perkins Restaurant on Crown Lake Boulevard and South Tamiami Trail, where the Confederate flag was raised, has been closed for months.
However, according to some residents from the community, despite the restaurant being shut down, an American flag still hung from the flag pole, until someone replaced it with the Confederate flag.
Many Bonita Springs residents said they want the flag to come down.
However, according to NBC 2 News “one resident said they were glad the flag was up and said you couldn’t erase history.”
Perkins released a statement saying they condemn the flying of the flag and that vandals trespassed and raised the flag. They also noted that Perkins was working to remove the flag.
