#FloridaMan called to drop out of Commissioner’s race after caught using “n-word” in e-mails
Just a week after Lee County Commission candidate Sonny Haas was caught using the “n-word” twice in an e-mail to a Lehigh Acres resident, a local NAACP chapter president is calling for him to resign from the race.

NAACP President James Muwakkil told NBC2 News “he had my vote. He had my donations. He doesn’t have either now.”
Sonny apologized for using the racist slur, saying “should I have slung the “n” word out even though they said it? Does it make it right that I said it? Obviously, I apologize to the African American people for that.”
Muwakkil told NBC2 News this isn’t the first time Sonny has used the “n-word,” claiming he’s used the word multiple times in conversation with him.
“Why would you think that that’s okay. In this day and time. Why would you think that’s okay?,” said Muwakkil.
