#FloridaMan Update: We now know why Jesse Grassmuck tried to hide in a Cape Coral canal
Yesterday I brought you the story of an unidentified man who was filmed eluding arrest by jumping in a Cape Coral canal.
We now know who that man is, and why he was in the canal.
Police arrested 27-year-old Jesse Grassmuck last Friday in a canal located on Southeast 6th Street and Southeast 5th Terrace in the Cape.
Turns out, Jesse was arrested earlier that day after he violated a no-contact order from a previous arrest for battery.
While Jesse was out on bond, he violated that no contact order, and was arrested by police.

Cape Coral coppers slapped the cuffs on Jesse, but Jesse claimed he had pneumonia and needed treatment. Cops order an ambulance to take him to the Cape Coral Hospital’s ER to get checked out.
While at the hospital, Jesse wiggles out of his handcuffs and takes off, running out of the hospital.
According to NBC 2 News, “multiple officers tracked him down in a canal between Southeast 6th Street and Southeast 5th Terrace.
Grassmuck is now in the Lee County Jail for resisting an officer, damage to property, violating an injunction, and attempted escape.”
