Naples Restaurant Employee Cited For Refusing Customer With Service Animal
A man carrying a small dog was refused service at Rosati’s Pizza on Neapolitan Way in Naples Florida. Normally this would make sense, but seeing as the dog is actually a certified service animal, it is actually illegal.
19-year-old Carl Ohlhaber repeatedly tried to kick the man out of the restaurant and reportedly said that he didn’t care that the dog was a certified service animal. Ohlhaber also refused to look at the documents that prove it is a service animal.
Police were eventually called and they told Ohlhaber that he was not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Florida law. This law prohibits businesses from discriminating against individuals with disabilities, and he is “required to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals anywhere customers are generally allowed.”
He was cited and now he has to go to court over it. As the police were leaving, he yelled out “I hope you burn in hell.”
Ohlhaber was fired immediately and now the owners of Rosati’s pizza want to track down the man and give him a free meal for the ordeal he had to go through.
