VIDEO: Fort Myers Hero Carries His Girlfriend’s Mom Away From Flooding
The afternoon rains here in SWFL have seemed like mini hurricanes lately. Strong winds, heavy rain, and flooding have been impacting SWFL.
The rains flooded Fowler Ave. on Tuesday afternoon and Davina Gonzalez’s 83-year-old mother was stuck in her car in the floodwaters.
Her mother and father were on the way to a doctor’s appointment when she got stuck.
Davina and her boyfriend, Robert Shaw, came to their rescue. Davina recorded him carrying her out of the car to their pickup truck.
She said, “It’s really scary because there were cars driving by, and my mom said that the waves were so heavy when a car drove by, it was crashing against the car, and the car was rocking back and forth. Thunder was there. We could hear the thunder. That made me nervous going through the water.”
Once Gonzalez’s mother was safely in the car, she gave him a big kiss.
