Florida Cyclist Saved By Dog Leash Tourniquet After Alligator Attack
Robert Bassett, 74, of Palm City, Fl, was out for a nice and relaxing bike ride that quickly turned deadly after an accident.
He fell off his bike and fell into some nearby water. Normally when cyclists fall off of their bikes and fall into some water, they can get back up, lick their wounds, and ride home. This was not the case for Bassett.
When he fell into the water, a hungry nine-foot alligator was waiting. The alligator attacked him and a scuffle ensued.
Fortunately, a person was walking his dog and saw the incident in progress. He helped Bassett escape from the jaws of the gator and immediately made a tourniquet out of his dog leash to stop the bleeding from Bassett’s leg.
Bassett is in stable condition and the alligator has been relocated to a different location.
