Fort Myers Beach Tuba Player Gets Banned From Playing Music On The Beach
For the past year, Derick Nangle has been walking up and down Fort Myers Beach entertaining beachgoers with his Tuba.
It’s definitely not the most common instrument you might find on the beach, but the people absolutely love it.
He was just informed by the Fort Myers Beach Patrol that he can’t play on the beach anymore because it breaks an ordinance. And if he continues, he could face penalties and fines.
In order to keep playing, he would have to obtain a permit from the Town of Fort Myers Beach as well as insurance.
Nangle is currently a music therapy major at FGCU and this last year has proved difficult for him as he was out of work and had to move back to his mother’s house.
So he turned to the thing that he loves, which is his Tuba.
Nangle said, “Music is the absence of stress to me. It’s just love, that’s the best way I can put it.”
