A Tampa Urologist is in a lot of trouble after a procedure on a man’s testicles went wrong back in 2019.
Dr. Raul Fernandez-Crespo was scheduled to perform a varicocelectomy, which is basically a removal of enlarged veins from testicles.
Prior to the operation, the wrong testicle was marked, meaning that the wrong testicle was operated on.
According to the report he marked the wrong testicle while in conversation with the patient and didn’t realize his mistake until he was in the middle of the operation.
Fernandez-Crespo was fined $2,500 and a letter of concern was submitted by the State of Florida Board of Medicine.
