Lehigh Acres Teacher Makes Inappropriate Comments And The Parents Want Him Gone
The incident happened last Tuesday during a JROTC class at Lehigh Acres High School. The class was outside doing drills.
The teen’s identity has not been revealed due to the fact that she is a minor. She told Fox 4 News, “He just looked at me and he put his hand out and told me ‘Get my hand and choke yourself.'”
She says that he is not her teacher but he is usually there for drills. He repeated what he said to her, and that’s when she walked away. As she was walking away, he yelled out, “Don’t be scared.”
She immediately called her stepfather, who then immediately called the school. The instructor called the stepfather back and explained to him that they “Joke like that in class.”
The mother spent days trying to get ahold of the principal, but she only ended up talking to the assistant principal. The assistant principal promised to “speak to her daughter.”
According to the mother, the only thing they did was ask her daughter if she wanted to switch classes.
The mother is not satisfied with this response and wants him removed.
The Lee County School District released this statement.
The teacher has apologized to the student and the student’s mother for the comment. School administrators have on at least three occasions spoken to the mother about the incident but are prohibited from releasing discipline information until after the matter is closed. The final outcome will be placed in the teachers personnel file and available for review under a public records request.
Maybe now this teacher won’t quote Full Metal Jacket at school anymore…
