‘Mermaid Lounge’ On FMB Is Closing After 40 Years

After 40 years of service, the Mermaid Lounge on Fort Myers Beach has closed its doors. All that was left behind was a cardboard sign on the door that read “R.I.P.”
This is a result of the Margaritaville that is set to move in.
They were originally set to close in November of 2018. But they managed to keep their doors open because of lawsuits with the new Margaritaville.
The family still owns Valerie’s Lounge open, which is on San Carlos boulevard near Summerlin and they plan to keep it open.
Valerie Vanselow said, “New and old customers I have so much gratitude it means everything to me.”
