Holocaust Survivor And Renowned Concert Pianist Saved From Homelessness
North Port, Fl- 87-year-old, Zyggy Szymczak, was once a world-renowned concert pianist. He played for the likes of presidents and even the queen of England.
He spent the first couple of years of his life in a concentration camp in Poland. His family was able to escape and immigrated to the United States.
Unfortunately, the man suffers from dementia and was told last year that he had to vacate his trailer. The land was sold and was set to be redeveloped.
Zyggy’s situation got so bad that he had to collect water from the Myaka river to drink, bathe, and wash dishes.
Justin Willis, a senior care advocate, heard about the situation and began to help immediately.
Willis set up a GoFundMe and managed to raise $30,000 in just a week to purchase Zyggy a new trailer.
He is all moved in now and is surrounded by neighbors who are caring and looking after him.
