Robert E. Lee Bust To Not Be Moved Back To Downtown Fort Myers Temporarily

The Fort Myers City Council unanimously voted on keeping the Robert E. Lee bust out of downtown Fort Myers.
The Robert E. Lee bust has been the center of controversy in our area after protests erupted around the country fighting systemic racism.
Vasha Tolbert has been opposing the bust and attending the city council meetings fighting for its removal. She said, “It’s just a symbolism of hate.”
Now the debate is on who owns the monument. So this is far from over.
