Collier County Mask Mandate Proposal Is Rejected
After about five hours of public comments, Collier County Commissioners rejected a proposal that would have required people to wear a mask while in public.
This happened on the same day that the Florida Department Of Health reported 266 cases of Covid-19 and 2 new deaths, which is a new record for Collier County.
The Collier County Medical Society has made a petition in support of a mask mandate.
There was also plenty of opposition to the mandate. People were claiming that it would infringe upon their rights and people would not want to visit Collier County anymore if it passed.
State Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Naples, said, “How are you going to have them enforce such a mandate? Who are they going to decide to enforce it on and who are they not going to enforce it on? There are major issues with such an order.”
