Stan’s Local Beat: WWII Airplanes To Replace Fireworks In Downtown Fort Myers
In a normal year, July 4th is full of BBQ, cold beers, music, and festivities. But in the year 2020 we are dealing with a pandemic that seems to have put a halt to all the fun.
So the organizers of the Freedom Fest in the Fort Myers River District had to get creative on how to celebrate Independence Day while maintaining social distancing for public safety. Their solution; the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team.
The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team consists of four WWII era planes. They will start flying up the Caloosahatchee around noon and do maneuvers around the city of Fort Myers for one hour so that people can spectate and enjoy the show from the comfort of their own home.
