Margaret Howe Lovatt worked on a project for NASA in the 1960’s, trying to teach dolphins how to talk. During her work with one dolphin, Peter, things became sexual.
Margaret explains that her relationship with Peter turned physical while trying to train him to speak English.
She says that the lessons would be distracted by Peter’s sexual urges so she began to “manually relieve his urges.” She says “it was sexual on his part – it was not sexual on mine, sensuous perhaps. It would just become part of what was going on like an itch, just get rid of that we’ll scratch and we would be done and move on.”
