Pole vaulter hurts his pole and berries during jump, requires stitches
Zach McWhorter, a pole vaulter from Brigham Young University, caught his scrotum on his pole during a jump, and the injury required stitches!
Zach told CBS 2 KUTV News, “I knew literally right as I went over the bar — I could just see it. And I got good pop on that jump, and the pole recoiled and just got me in the sweet spot.”
The recoil of the pole cut his shorts, and a little bit more. Zach says “I started screaming to my dad things I probably shouldn’t repeat, but basically about my scrotum — that there was a hole in it.”
Zach’s dad is his coach and was recording video that day. Ironically, he’s also a urologist. He took Zach to his office and gave him 18 stitches.
