The best season has finally been in full effect- spooky season. This season is the time of the year to watch your favorite horror movies, dress up in costumes, and purchase everything pumpkin spice flavored. Ever since I was little, I would write a list of things that I wanted to do for the fall season. One thing I would always write down is to watch 31 Halloween movies in a row. All during the month of October.

Now as I have gotten older, my movie choices for this tradition have changed drastically. From starting at watching the non-scary children Halloween films to now watching more classical slasher movies. With new movies coming out every year– whether as standalone films, or additions to classic series; it can be hard knowing exactly what to watch. While the options for these movies seem never-ending- what movies make the top of the list?

  • 2. The Shining

Here’s Johnny!! With The Shining being one of my all time top favorite movies, it comes in at Florida’s second favorite horror film. In this film, the main character, Jack Torrance becomes a winter caretaker at a empty hotel in Colorado. In hopes his cure his writer’s block he brings his family along with him. His family includes his is son Danny who experiences psychic premonitions. As Jack’s writing goes nowhere and Danny’s visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel’s dark secrets and begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac episode.

  • 3. A Quiet Place

The plot revolves around a father and a mother who struggle to survive and raise their children in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind extraterrestrial creatures with an amazing sense of hearing. I remember watching this movie when it premiered and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It is a definite must watch.

  • 4. IT

From the one and only Stephen King, IT places in fourth place. This movie is based in the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids stick together to destroy a shape-shifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown and preys on children.

  • 5. Scream
