People Infected With COVID-19 Are Still Traveling, Report Reveals
A 69-year-old man whose medical emergency forced a United Airlines jet to divert to New Orleans had coronavirus, according to The Washington Post.
Flight 591 from Orlando to Los Angeles on December 14th was interrupted during the flight as an announcement came over the speaker system requesting for medical professionals.
A report released by coroner Gerry Cvitanovich revealed the 69-year-old man identified as Isaias Hernandez.
Hernandez had wrongly stated he did not have covid-related symptoms on a preflight checklist and was later pronounced dead at Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner.
According to The Washington Post, neither United nor the CDC had any comment about the coroner’s report.
“The most jarring part is thinking about how many people probably didn’t know they’d been exposed and didn’t self quarantine and were out and about because nobody told them,” a passenger aboard Flight 591 said in an email to The Washington Post.
At this time, it is impossible to identify how many travelers have been infected.
