Lehigh Acres Man Is Accused Of Arson, But He Claims That He Is Innocent
John Gibbins of Lehigh Acres is accused of setting a house on fire with two women and four children inside of it. He is currently on the run.
According to NBC2 news, Gibbins is claiming innocence for that crime and putting the blame on his ex-girlfriend.
He said, “I’m accused of setting a house on fire, I’m accused of all this stuff, but I ain’t done none of it, I left, I couldn’t even get my clothes.”
He claimed that this all started on Saturday when he arrived home from work and his ex-girlfriend had multiple guests over. An argument ensued and he told the guests to leave the house. After that, the ex and her sister grabbed knives and threatened Gibbins. He locked himself into a room where he called 911. A deputy arrived, talked to everyone in the home, and left.
He claimed that after the incident, the ex and her sister lit his clothes on fire with gasoline. He then took off running.
He claims that he was set up because she wanted money and the new house to herself.
“I’ve been blamed for so many stuff that I had nothing to do with,” Gibbons said. “Women be in the wrong, women need to start getting penalized for the things they are doing. That’s not right.”
