Gallery: Tornado Damage in the Fort Myers Neighborhood Of Tropicana
As the sun sets on a terrifying day in Fort Myers, images continue to form of the damage caused by a tornado that struck at approximately 7 am this morning. According to the Tropicana Forum, “Severe damage is reported in the Iona area including Ft. Myers Beach and along John Morris. Considerable devastation occurred, and many homes were seriously damaged including loss of roofs and portions of buildings.”
Water and electricity are still out in the area and considerable homes are damaged or completely destroyed. These pictures were taken by Tropicana resident D’aun Loomis. Video footage of the actual tornado has also been posted after this gallery:

Fort Myers Tornado
According to NBC-2, “The National Weather Service has concluded based on the damage left behind from Sunday morning’s storms that an EF2 tornado touched down in the Iona McGregor Area area Sunday morning around 8 am. The tornado moved through three separate mobile home communities including including Point Breeze, Tropicana, and Century 21.”
Fortunately, even with the extensive damage reported, there appears to be only minor injuries. Credit to this can be given to the National Weather Service who began pinging our phones with tornado warnings before most of us were even up out of bed.
Actually, that’s what woke me up this morning. The dog loses her mind when EAS hits the phone.
