Historic Bonita Bill’s to Reopen as Bonita Fish Co. Under New Ownership
HM Restaurant Group snagged Bonita Bill’s, a Fort Myers Beach landmark, for $5.5 million this January. The deal includes four waterfront properties.
After 33 years of serving locals and visitors, the doors shut on Jan. 4. The new owners will rebrand it as Bonita Fish Co., hoping to open by summer.
“We’re excited to embrace the tradition and history of this exceptional property and its reputation of fresh fish and seafood, great food and drinks and unbeatable views,” Joe Harrity, partner with HM Restaurant Group told Santiva Chronicle. “So many people have fond memories of Bonita Bill’s and one of our goals with Bonita Fish Company is to preserve that, and continue to be a go-to place for tourists and locals alike.”
This acquisition adds to HM’s expanding portfolio of coastal restaurants, alongside Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille and Dixie Fish Company. The menu will spotlight fresh catches and local flavors.
Renovations begin immediately, though the new owners want to preserve the building’s classic charm.
