Fort Myers Sears Building Sells for $5.8M at Edison Mall
A real estate company bought the empty Sears buildins at Edison Mall for $5.8 million. The purchase gives Edison Florida Real Estate LLC ownership of 147,847 square feet of retail space.
The property includes two buildings, with the main one covering 128,729 square feet. Next door is the smaller garage building, measuring 19,118 square feet. The price works out to about $39 per square foot, which lines up with what similar properties are going for.
The buildings have been empty since early 2020 when Sears closed its Florida stores. The previous owner, Seritage SRC Finance LLC, had owned the buildings since buying them in 2015.
This is the first time the property has changed hands in four years. Both the main store and its auto center have sat unused since Sears left, and now await whatever the new owners have planned.
