Idiot Criminal Of The Day: Minnesota Woman Car Thief Busted By Diary Entry
Was a Minnesota woman busted by her diary entry? That’s what it sounds like, you have to be careful what you confide in your “private” journal.
I feel like any diary entry is never safe. Someone is always going to end up reading it whether it’s a parent, significant other, friend, or law enforcement. So, you probably want to be careful with what you put in your diary entry because you’re not exactly anonymous and it might tie you to some crimes. Well, it sounds like that’s what happened to this woman in Minnesota who reportedly bragged about stealing a car in her journal.
Was A Minnesota Woman Busted By Her Diary Entry?
According to The Smoking Gun, 30-year-old Vanessa Guerra allegedly stole a van and later sold it for scrap and was caught because of an incriminating diary entry. The Smoking Gun says she wrote in her journal, “Totally stole a car today! Something I never thought of doing. F****** superfreaking out about it.”
Yeah, you don’t want to confess to any crimes in your journal. It might come back to haunt you. Probably would have been a better idea to not say anything and just let it go. Maybe brag to a friend in-person but getting admission of your crimes in writing is never a good idea if you plan on trying to get away with it. It sounds like a man in Brown County, Minnesota reported his 2004 Ford Freestar as stolen. The Smoking Gun reports that it was worth $2,000 and was sold for scrap at a salvage business in Blue Earth county which is nearby. It sounds like during the investigation into the stolen van law enforcement discovered her journal which contained the incriminating diary entry admitting to what she did.
When she was contacted, Guerra reportedly denied knowing that the vehicle was stolen. She has been charged with a pair of felonies: receiving stolen property and theft. This is not her first run-in with the law, however. The Smoking Gun says she has been previously convicted of driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance. Back in June, she reportedly pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and had a brief stay in county jail along with probation for a year. She was also fined. You can see Guerra’s mugshot provided by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office below.
She kind of has a Gypsy Rose Blanchard thing going on. You see it?
