College GameDay Gives Touching Tribute To Kirk Herbstreit’s Dog Ben
College GameDay gave an emotional tribute to Kirk Herbstret's dog Ben who recently passed away from cancer. It was a tearjerker. Ben was a good boy. He was often seen with Kirk on set at College GameDay and became a star on social media. Unfortunately, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the entire country has been mourning Ben and sending support and love to Kirk Herbstreit during this difficult time. If you've ever owned a pet, you're familiar with the pain. You aren't just losing an animal. You're losing a part of the family. You're losing a friend, a companion, and so much more. College GameDay Gives Emotional Tribute To Kirk Herbstreit's Dog Ben Kudos to Kirk for showing up on Saturday to join his teammates on College GameDay during their visit to Baton Rouge, Louisiana on campus at LSU before the big game against Alabama. It was heartbreaking watching him attempt to talk about it after his co-host brought it up and gave him condolences. Kirk tried to respond but was able to speak. He waited and everyone respected him taking his time. Lee Corso even put a hand on his shoulder in a show of love in support. That was an incredibly emotional and significant moment because it was almost a role reversal. For so long Kirk has been the one supporting Lee following his health concerns and issues. Now, it was Lee's turn to be there for Kirk during his difficult time. Kirk was unable to comment as he held back tears as they introduced a touching video detailing what Ben meant not only to Kirk--but the entire country. You can watch that video below. Make sure you have some Kleenex nearby or some sort of tissue. It's a tearjerker and it will make you want to hold your furry friend even closer. https://youtu.be/7YCzj-SDYmY?si=dKqvxO0KhxpFv6T0 Oh, man. That got me. I had been following the story for a while and was absolutely gutted when I saw that Ben had passed. It's one of the worst feelings in the world losing a pet. Kirk is one of the good guys, too. I've never met him but you just know it. He's always been supportive of Lee Corso and has shown compassion countless times. Seeing a good dude like him hurting can't help but make you hurt as well. It also reminds you that your dog or cat or whatever pet you have won't be around forever. Maybe it reminds you of a previous pet and that heartbreaking moment you had to say goodbye. It was an emotional start to the day on Saturday seeing that tribute video but you have to respect Herbstreit for showing up. You have to imagine it was incredibly difficult and the last thing you want to do is go be on camera during the worst moments of your life, but he did it and owned it.
