Did A Florida Woman Pull A Gun On An Uber Driver Over A Dog?
Rules are rules! If your Uber driver doesn’t want dogs in their car then that’s their choice. If you really want to get somewhere with your dog you have the option to drive yourself. Scary how things ended like this! Talk about a bit of an overreaction!
According to FOX 13, an Uber driver in Polk County was dropping passengers off around 8pm in Mulberry when they were asked if they could buy another ride and have their friend Jasia Owens ride with them. It appears that it wasn’t just Owens who needed a ride but her dog as well. Well, that dog wasn’t allowed inside the car and the driver reportedly asked the group to leave but Owens became irate and refused to leave, per FOX 13. Later, she finally exited the vehicle but pulled a handgun from her bag and threatened the driver and even grabbed his phone, per FOX 13!
Naturally, the driver attempted to get away but Owens reportedly stopped him from leaving, according to FOX 13. He was eventually able to leave and flag down a bystander to use their phone to call 911. A 9mm Sig Sauer was later found under a vehicle in the driveway of a nearby home, per FOX 13. Witnesses say that Owens came into their driveway and asked for a ride to her sister’s place. It seems like she was in a rush to get out of the area as quickly as possible.
Owens was later apprehended and charged with armed robbery which is a life felony. It’s not her first time getting in trouble with the law it seems like. According to FOX 13, her criminal history includes aggravated assault, grand larceny, and battery. You can see Owens’ mugshot below provided by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
