What’s The Connection Between The Menendez Brothers An A Mark Jackson NBA Card?
People are trying to get the Menendez Brothers to autograph a 1990 Mark Jackson NBA card. What’s the big deal about this?
Actually, it’s pretty interesting! People are trying to get the Menendez Brothers (Lyle and Erik) to sign the Mark Jackson card because the 2 brothers are seen in the background of the card. Of course, if you don’t remember who the Menendez Brothers are this might not mean anything to you. However, it remains as crazy today as it was back when it happened.
Who Are The Menendez Brothers?
So, I suppose we should probably start here. Before we go on and on about this famous card we should backstep a little bit and go over who the Menendez Brothers are. It’s been a long time and you might need a refresher. The Menendez Brothers were convicted of the 1989 murder of their parents and the case was a big deal back in the day. It was everywhere. Many people actually referred to it as the trial of the century. Now, there have been movies and specials made about the brothers and their story and all the drama lives on.
However, more recently, back in 2018 it was realized that the Menendez Brothers were actually spotted on a 1990 Mark Jackson NBA card sitting courtside. Now, the value of the card has since skyrocketed since the realization. Even Mark Jackson is aware of the craziness behind the photo seen in the card telling People, “I aways knew about it, unfortunately, because of the history behind it. [I[ heard about it whenever it picked up steam. People recognized what it was all about and who was in the background.” It would be a bit of a bummer if your NBA card went viral and was incredibly valuable…but it had nothing to do with you. Poor Mark Jackson, the guy can’t seem to catch a break. He was the coach of the Golden State Warriors right before Steve Kerr took over and the dynasty began.
Today, people are trying to get the Menendez Brothers to sign the card so it can be even more valuable and super Meta. Some people maintain that the brothers are innocent and it remains a thing. The brothers remain in prison and it’s been reported that Lyle earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology through the University of California, Irvine’s special college program for inmates of Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility.

The modern mug shot was invented in 1888, and famous portraits have been coming out ever since. From the days of the Wild West to today, mug shots have shown the faces of arrested citizens and celebrities, alike. For some celebrities, it’s hard to hide from the past when their mug shot is iconic.
The original purpose of a mug shot was to give law enforcement a photographic record of arrested individuals. While still used for that today, it’s become a common thing to end up seeing some of these celebrity mug shots on t-shirts and monetized in some way.

Mug shots go on to become iconic for a number of reasons. These reasons vary, and are rarely ever for a good reason. Sometimes it’s for the story behind the arrest. However, most of the time it seems like these pictures end up going viral because of how the individual looks in the picture.
When you hear the phrase ‘celebrity mug shot,’ who do you think of? Is there one specific example that comes to mind? There have been several over the hundreds of years of their existence that have stuck out, for one reason or another. Some of these photos will live on in infamy forever, unfortunately. However, others have totally embraced their photo. It’s different for each case and person, and understandably so.
I put together a list of 10 iconic celebrity mug shots. All of these stand out amongst the others. For some, it’s how bad they look. On the other hand, some mug shots are iconic and famous for how good they look. Every picture is noteworthy for its own unique reason.
