Hot Tip: Don’t Use A Massage Gun On Your Eyes
Massage guns can be beneficial but don’t try to use a massage gun on your eyes! One guy tried it and it did not end well for him!
Using a massage gun on your sore muscles is a good idea. Using it to relax can also be helpful. However, using a massage gun on your eyes can cause some serious damage! You do not want to try that at home.
Should You Use A Massage Gun On Your Eyes?
I’ve never felt the urge to use a massage gun on my eyes. I can’t imagine a scenario where you’d want to. However, this guy in China did it frequently and it led to some serious problems! Enough that his story is now being used as an example on what not to do.
According to Oddity Central, this Chinese man frequently used a massage gun on his face and eyes and had to undergo surgery after suffering lens dislocation and developing cataracts at the age of 42. That man has been identified as Mr. Luo and he’s a fitness enthusiast from Wuhan, China. Like many of us, he got a massage gun at the recommendation of a fitness instructor who says it can work wonders for sore muscles. It sounds like it was working so well on other parts of his body he decided to use it on his eyes. I guess they can be sore so maybe you’ll think there will be great benefits there as well. You should not do it though!
It sounds like everything was good at first but after about a week his vision started to become blurry. So, he went to see a doctor where he was diagnosed with lens dislocation and cataracts. Oddity Central reports that these massage guns have high-frequency vibrations and they’re comparable to low-intensity rapid punches. Eyes are very sensitive and are extremely sensitive to physical trauma and can easily suffer lens dislocation, turbidity, and even retinal detachment. Those would all be very serious problems and you don’t want them to happen to you.
Despite being used as a cautionary tale, Mr. Luo had to undergo laser-assisted surgery to repair the damage to his eyes. Hopefully he is able to recover fully and feel better. Don’t try this at home! Use it on your body but maybe keep it away from your eyeballs. Massage guns can have lots of benefits but only if you use them correctly!
