Tipping Point: Do You Tip Your Mechanic?
Do you tip your mechanic? The profession was found to be the people we refuse to tip even when prompted!
Sure, tip culture has gotten a little out of control recently. No matter where you go it seems like you’ll find a tip jar. Now, you’ll even find technology instead of a tip jar that asks you to tip and the cashier turns it to you as your paying and you see options for 20%, 10%, Custom Tip, and in small little font somewhere you might find “no tip.” They aren’t making it easy! But who are we not tipping the most? According to a new study, you need to tip your mechanic!
Should You Have To Tip Your Mechanic?
Not only are you expected to tip everywhere you go, you’re expected to tip a lot! Of course, there are places where people know to tip like servers at a restaurant, barbers and hair stylists, and bartenders. However, it seems like more and more professions are now asking for tips. Is this a new thing? Or are we just now noticing it?
According to Upgraded Points, Auto Repair Services are the most common place we aren’t tipping. Should you tip your mechanic? What they do is pretty important. I guess I don’t really tip my mechanic because I figure it’s already included in that massive bill. It seems like we also aren’t doing much tipping at Sporting Event Concessions, Fast-Casual Restaurants, and Food Pickup Orders. I’ll always tip on a pickup but it’s never near as much as it would be if I was sitting down for a meal. A couple of bucks and I’m out the door.
Where are we most likely to tip? According to Upgraded Points, we’re most likely to tip on Food Delivery Apps, Ride-Share Drivers, and Grocery Delivery Services. Upgraded Points also points out (for lack of a better term) that Americans will usually tip 15% for most services and business types, expect for pet services where it rises to an average of 20%. It goes to show how much we love our pets and will do anything for them. We have no problem spoiling our pets, but when it comes to your mechanic it’s a little different it sounds like!
According to Upgraded Points, the states with the most tipflation are Vermont, Rhode Island, and Hawaii while the states with the least prevalent tipflation is California, Utah, and Arkansas. Have you noticed tipping getting out of control or that you’re being prompted to tip more than ever?
