The Best Day of the Week To Book a Flight From Southwest Florida
I’ve been told so many times that there’s a best day of the week to book a flight. To fly out of Southwest Florida International in Fort Myers, the usual story is Monday or Tuesday, but I’ve also been told Wednesday. But I’m always told to “never book a flight on a weekend.” It turns out, that all of those answers are correct, to some degree. Which airline you book determines the answer.
A new study by Upgraded Points answers the question. “Long held to be a myth, it turns out that there actually is a best day to book a flight if you want to save money,” said Keri Stooksbury, editor-in-chief of Upgraded Points. Many airlines were compared in this study, but let’s narrow the data down and focus on just the carriers that fly out of Fort Myers, Florida.
When Is The Best Day Of The Week To Book A Flight?
On average the study shows that Monday and Tuesday are the best days to book a flight. But each carrier is different.
- American Airlines: There’s no real ‘big deal day’, although flights on American tend to be slightly cheaper on Friday.
- United: Although their fares do tend to book midweek, Sunday looks to be the best day to book United.
- Delta: When you go with Delta, you’ll likely want to book on a Thursday. But don’t wait, their highest prices occur on Friday.
- Jet Blue: Monday and Tuesday seems to be best for Jet Blue with some deals on Sunday as well. If you wait and book on Friday, your price can jump $50.
- Spirit: Already a lower cost airline it appears that booking on Monday can save you even more.
- Frontier: Tuesday is your best day to book Frontier, with a big jump in price on Wednesday.

Regardless of what day you book on, you should always plan ahead. All flight costs in this data reflect booking a flight 3 to 4 weeks in advance.
Although a major carrier out of RSW here in Fort Myers, they were not left out intentionally: Southwest Airlines was excluded from the ‘best day of the week to book a flight’ study because their flight data is not published on Google Flights. Southwest frequently runs sales you should watch for. I’m told those usually happen on Tuesdays.
