What Are The Greatest Rock Songs From The 90s?
What are the greatest rock songs from the 90s? Everyone has their own opinion, and everyone seems to have strong opinions on the best rock from the decade. Even rock fans can’t agree on what was the best of the best!
In the 90s, we had the rise of grunge, punk was strong, alternative was making big waves, metal, and more. However, a noted publication just came out with their list of the 75 best rock songs from the 90s. They seem to know a thing or two on the subject. Here’s what they had to say on the matter of the greatest rock songs from the 90s.
The Greatest Rock Songs From The 1990s
There was so much variety in the rock world during the 90s. You and two of your friends could both like rock while liking three vastly different bands and sounds. Hair rock was incredibly popular during the 80s and it seems like Grunge has defined the 90s. The sound, the look, all of it!
Understandably, everyone has their own thoughts and taste of the music from the era. However, noted publication Loudwire recently released their list of the 75 Best Rock Songs Of The ’90s! Loudwire knows their rock, so we can consider them to be experts on the subject.
They chose to do the list in alphabetical order by band name, so it’s not in order of the Greatest songs. On the list, you’ll find hits like “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC which starts things off. I was surprised that was a 90s song. I would have thought it was a little older but it was released in 1990. Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” and Alice in Chain’s “Would?” finish the A-category.
Loudwire’s list goes on to share songs from all sorts of rock’s varieties including “What’s My Age Again?” by Blink-182 and “No Rain” by Blind Melon. This list has some serious range! Of course, Blur made the list with “Song no. 2.” That’s a 90s classic. Candlebox, Counting Crows, and Eve 6 all have songs that made the list, as well. Heavy hitters Green Day and Guns N’ Roses are on there, too.
So, what (and who) was left off of the list of greatest rock songs of the 90s? Personally, no Incubus on the list was a bummer. “Drive” was released in 1999. I thought that had a chance to make the list. Who do you notice was left off? Let us know? See the full list below!
