U.S. News has released their list of the best places to live in America and one Southwest Florida city has made the top 10.
As a girl who was born and raised in Illinois, moving to Florida was a dream come true. I spent a lot of time in Clearwater Beach when I was growing up, as my parents had a vacation home there. So that was always the area I envisioned myself living in. Of course I wanted to be right on the beach, but it wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized just how much that would cost. When I first came to Florida in 2018, I was in Sarasota first before moving to Fort Myers, and moving to the Sunshine State was the best thing I did.

Here in Southwest Florida, I find this area to be a great place to live because there’s so much to see and do. And the fact that we’re just a few hours drive from the other coast, really opens up a lot of opportunities to get out and explore. U.S. News just released their list of the best places to live in the U.S. Naples came in at #6. For a city to make the list, “it had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.”
The list includes 150 cities. #1 is the home of the Packers- Green Bay, Wisconsin. Coming in at #150 is San Juan, PR.

The Best Local Cuisine Restaurants In Southwest Florida
1. Dixie Fish Company
I can’t believe we almost lost this place. The Dixie Fish Company on Fort Myers Beach was almost wrecked by Hurricane Ian. There was a boat on their front steps. Seriously.
Thankfully, they were able to put everything back together, and according to Tripadvisor it’s the number one spot for fresh local seafood in Southwest Florida. It’s an open air bar/restaurant and has everything you could possibly want from a waterfront restaurant on an island. It’s an absolute must for anyone visiting the Fort Myers area. Us locals love it, too. This is true original Southwest Florida.
