From ‘Gin and Juice’ to Jail: Florida Man Faces the Music for Snoop Dogg Bobblehead Theft
After catching the evening news about the stolen Snoop Dogg bobblehead in Fort Myers, I had to explain to my mother that Snoop Dogg is the cool rapper guy, not the cartoon dog Snoopy. So I decided to go on YouTube and show my mom a few Snoop Dogg tracks. Now, my mom may not know who Snoop Dogg is, but she knows not to steal. Unlike 50-year-old, Rocco John Benedetto.
According to NBC2, the man was responsible for the theft involving a 3.5-foot Snoop Dogg bobblehead at Cantina Laredo restaurant in south Fort Myers. The crime left patrons and staff very upset. They couldn’t “imagine” anyone stealing Snoop!
Luckily, the cantina’s security cameras were on high alert and had a “Deep Cover” of the property. They caught Benedetto red-handed, snatching the “Beautiful” hip-hop icon from the lobby. However, when news reports spread like wildfire. Benedetto, knew he couldn’t just “Lay Low” anymore. Perhaps feeling the heat, he began to “Sweat” and decided to drop the stolen statue back where it belonged.
Cantina Laredo’s general manager, Joy Duda, revealed that detectives advised the man to return the $1,250 bobblehead to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office headquarters. Ignoring this advice, he opted for a direct return to the restaurant. And just like that, “Boom” Snoop was back.
While the Cantina Laredo team was relieved to have their beloved Snoop Dogg bobblehead back, they weren’t ready to let Benedetto off the hook. The restaurant announced their intention to pursue charges against the bobblehead bandit. Because stealing is not “Tha Shiznit” as they say.
Rocco is currently staying at the Lee County Jail. Benedetto now faces a grand theft charge of less than $5,000. Hopefully, this serves as a lesson to Rocco that even when you have too much “Gin and Juice” you can’t just go around stealing things all “Lodi Dodi” and not face the consequences. So will Rocco learn his lesson? I guess we’ll have to wait until “The Next Episode” to find out.
