There are some great activities out there for mommy to bond with her children. Sometimes, it’s an arts and crafts class! Or, you could do a painting class! However, those aren’t the only options available. A Pole Dancing Studio is now receiving criticism for a ‘Mommy & Me’ pole dancing class.
The internet has lots to say about this! The Atlanta-based studio says they never expected so many negative comments!
Pole Dancing Studio Receives Criticism For ‘Mommy & Me’ Class
Pink Poles Studios in Atlanta is not only the talk of the town, but the talk of the country. It all stems from them hosting a Mommy & Me pole dancing class.
However, they don’t see where all the hate is coming from. It turns out, this isn’t even the first time they hosted something like this. Owner Tia Harris said, “This wasn’t our first mommy and me class. It’s just the first one that got so much attention,” per Atlanta News First.
According to Harris, there was no exotic dancing involved in the class. Only basic fun spins and tricks. The way Harris sees it, it’s something fun that kids already do on the playground and stuff. However, not everyone sees it that way.
Opponents say that pole dancing is a sexualized activity. It started in strip clubs and that’s what everyone equates the hobby to. Sure, it is exercise. But that’s not what comes to mind when you see people pole dancing.
According to Atlanta News First, the music played at the class is appropriate as is the attire that the class is wearing. Harris says that clients range from doctors to lawyers to even teachers who are just looking for a way to stay in shape, per Atlanta News First.
Harris is hoping to bring more awareness to pole fitness. Hopefully, we’ll even see it as a competitive sport in the Olympics.
See for yourself. Check out a video from the class below!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
