Let’s face it, eating is a main part of the next few holiday weeks. It’s celebrated, expected, and part of the accepted fun. Although many of your meals include gathering around a table at home during this time, the holiday season is also a popular time for fast-food establishments.
What are the reasons people frequent fast-food restaurants over the holiday months? Well, there are a few common answers. On the day before and after the big holiday, many folks prefer a quick and easy meal. Aside from the leftover turkey sandwich (one of the best meals of the year), nobody wants to put in too much preparation time for meals before and after the main event.
It’s more convenient to order a pizza on the days surrounding the holiday. Or, perhaps you have last-minute errands to run like heading to the liquor store to stock up your bar and wine collection. Well, on the way there’s a Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, and McDonalds. How about we grab a meal through the drive-through in an effort to multitask?

In the past, certain chains specialize their holiday season menus. This is for two reasons. It’s to capitalize on the festive spirit and to meet the needs of those looking for the easy meal-to-go. Sure, there are the red holiday coffee cups, ginger bread everything, but here is a look at some unique items that Eat This, Not That has highlighted. I have spent so much time in drive-thrus that I think I could be considered an expert witness in a court case, at this point. I’ve seen delicious items come and go, prices climb, and experiences all the promos and deals. Why did KFC get rid of the Twister? When will McDonald’s bring back the famous Snack Wraps? These are all questions I ask every day, and sadly have no answers for. However, one day…we will get them back. I truly believe it in my heart of hearts.
I could go on and on about my love for the value menu. I’d say at least once a week I think back on my high school days when the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger from Wendy’s was only 99 cents. Do you remember that? 99 cents! It was amazing. Now, the price for one JBC is closer to $3 than it is 99 cents. I feel like this is the new version of that old “back in my day, we’d walk 2 miles to school up hill both ways! stories your grandparents would tell. Now, these stories are all about how low the value menu prices were back in our day. “When I was your age, every item on the dollar menu was a dollar!”
