North Fort Myers Gets a Taste of the Southwest Florida and Lee County Fair
It’s time to head over to North Fort Myers for The Southwest Florida & Lee County Fair! I’m pretty sure my taste buds just did a backflip of joy. I don’t know about you, but the mere thought of deep-fried Reese’s peanut butter cups, corn dogs, fried Oreos, elephant ears, and funnel cakes is enough to make me salivate uncontrollably.
And let’s not forget about the sheer excitement of the fair itself. I mean, where else can you see farm animals, ride the Ferris wheel, and chow down on deep-fried goodness all in one place? It’s like a dream come true.
But back to the food. Let’s start with the deep-fried Reese’s peanut butter cups. Whoever thought to take one of the most beloved candies of all time and dunk it in hot oil deserves a medal. It’s like biting into a warm, gooey cloud of peanut buttery heaven. I’m pretty sure I could eat a whole bucket of these bad boys and still want more.
And then there’s the corn dogs. Is there anything more quintessentially fair food than a corn dog? I think not. Something about that crispy cornmeal exterior and juicy hot dog center just screams “good times”. Plus, it’s basically a meal on a stick, so you can eat it while you ride the Tilt-A-Whirl. Talk about multitasking!

But let’s not forget about the fried Oreos. I mean, come on. Oreos are already amazing on their own, but when you coat them in batter and fry them to crispy perfection, they become a whole new level of deliciousness. I’m pretty sure I heard angels singing the first time I tried one.
And don’t even get me started on elephant ears and funnel cakes. These sugary, doughy treats are the stuff of dreams. They’re like the fair’s version of a warm hug. If you’re feeling down, just grab a funnel cake and suddenly the world is a brighter place.
So, if you’re in the Southwest Florida area, do yourself a favor and head to the Lee County Civic Center for the fair. It’s a hundred years of memories in the making, and the food alone is worth the trip. Just make sure to bring your stretchy pants.
