Disney World has announced the closing date for Splash Mountain as January 23, 2023. So if you want one last Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da ride you’ll need to do it soon. Because Splash Mountain is being re imagined with a new story based on The Princess and the Frog. According to Inside The Magic, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to open in late 2024, which implies that the reimagining will take up to two years.”

But people who love the nostalgia of Splash Mountain are not happy. As one poster on the change.org board wrote “The story behind Splash Mountain will likely never be known to 99% of riders. Rather, it’s seen a cute ride with animal characters. Please don’t redo this ride. Give The Princess and the Frog it’s own due, as WDW should have years ago by putting a Tiana’s Place in at Port Orleans, the riverboat at Disney Springs, or returning the paddle boat at Magic Kingdom.”

She’s not wrong. Splash Mountain isn’t really about the banned movie Song Of The South. It’s a lot closer to “The Tales of Uncle Remus: The Adventures of Brer Rabbit”, a book you can still buy on Amazon. And the petition to save the ride is nearing 100,000 signatures.

That ride has been at Disney World since 1989 and is a true landmark. Many people rode it as a kid, then took their own kids on the ride. The attraction has really fallen into disrepair and it’s unlikely that Disney will change it’s mind on this. So if you want one last splash, you should plan that trip soon.

'Die Hard' Tops List of America's Favorite Christmas Movies

Is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not? Well, America has decided! In a new study of 100 of the U.S.’s top Christmas movies, including new releases, PlayStar has determined that the 1988 Bruce Willis flick is not only a Christmas movie, but it’s America’s favorite Christmas movie!

As an overall trend, Playstar determined that Americans tend to love seeing one’s own state in a wintery wonderland. Washington loves Sleepless in Seattle, Illinois hearts Home Alone (set in Chicago), Connecticut favors Christmas in Connecticut, Missouri unsurprisingly is enthused about Meet Me in St. Louis and Minnesota goes for Jingle All the Way (filmed in the Twin Cities area).

Perhaps your state doesn’t have its own Christmas movie. You may subconsciously favor one that’s in the same region. For example, Vermont was also a big fan of Jingle All the Way and quite a few Southern states loved Edward Scissorhands. Perhaps something about the separate northern or southern climates evokes similar Christmassy feelings to those of your hometown. On the other hand, some states had unrelated favorites: New Jersey and Pennsylvania were lovers of Jack Frost, while Florida was very into Die Hard. There were quite a few individual favorites by different states, such as Scrooged, Nightmare Before Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis and It’s a Wonderful Life! If anything, this research shows how many great movies are out there to love at Christmas time.

Of this year’s new releases, the study found that the most anticipated were Violent Night starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour, Hallmark movie We Need a Little Christmas and Lindsay Lohan’s acting comeback in Netflix’s Falling For Christmas.
