It’s going to be another hot Southwest Florida weekend full of events. To get you ready for the action, here is the latest edition of Weekend Vibes.

The Mighty Mussels Baseball season will be wrapping up soon. They are at home this weekend against the Lakeland Flying Tigers, the minor league team for the Detroit Tigers.

The Mussels are not only known for great baseball, but the games are also known to offer great fun. There are special events and promotions before, during and after each game. More details are below.

For some good indoor fun, a new show opens at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Fort Myers. There is also a bridal show to help get you ready for the big event.

  • Mighty Mussels

    The boys of summer are in town this weekend playing the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Friday is Kids Club night. Following the game there are fireworks. Saturday is Bark in the Park where well-behaved dogs are welcome. In addition, it’s time for a beerfest. For an additional $20 you get to sample 50 different kinds of beer, if you want.

    Finally, on Sunday, children 12 and under get in free. They also get to run the bases and play catch on the field. More info here

  • The Mousetrap

    A new show opens this weekend at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Fort Myers. Agatha Christie’s classic, The Mousetrap. It’s said to be the world’s longest-running play. It’s a classic “who done it” murder mystery. The show runs through Sept. 21. Tickets start at $25. More info here.

     

  • Community Day at IMAG History & Science Center

    This annual event encourages families to enjoy the IMAG History & Science Center in downtown Fort Myers. Regular admission is half price and all kinds of special activities ae planned. For adults, there are hurricane-preparedness seminars presented by NBC-2 meteorologists. For the kids, there are crafts and shows that feature science as well as animals. Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Adults $9.75, college students and those 18 to 3 years $7.50.  More info here

  • The Modern Bridal Expo Southwest Florida

    The Modern Bridal Expo is not only good for brides but anyone planning a big event like an anniversary party or reunion in the future. There are some 40 vendors, entertainment, cake samples and lots more. It’s Saturday from 11am to 3pm. A fashion show is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.  $5 in advance online, $10 at the door.   • Ave Maria for the Back to School Bash

    There is a big Back To School Bash Saturday at the Ave Maria Town Center. Some of the fun includes a DJ, giveaways, dining and shopping specials and more. In addition, there is a school-supply drive and a bike helmet giveaway. 10am to 2pm. Free.  More info here
