Smashing Pumpkins House Party Gig Gets Shut Down
Remember how Smashing Pumpkins were planning on throwing an actual house party like their “1979” music video? Apparently, the neighbors had other plans.
Local CBS affiliate KCAL reports that the show took place in the backyard of a Studio City, Calif. home where the actual “1979” video was shot. Neighboring houses were notified of the event, however, between traffic congestion, parking issues and noise complaints, the local police arrived to bring the night to a bit of an early end.
Billy Corgan didn’t seem to mind the cops showing up. He wrote in an Instagram post, “…Apologies to those in Studio City for the disturbance of our nihilistic noize. ‘Twas a full moon and something just gets into the blood. And respect to the police, who let us finish the set. Mendacious as our conclusion was.”
Smashing Pumpkins head out on the road for their “Shiny And Oh So Bright” Tour on July 12. A complete list of dates can be found at SmashingPumpkins.com.
