Doc Ford’s Donates $2,500 for Florida’s Environmental Preservation
Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille, a staple of Southwest Florida, is continuing its long-standing commitment to local conservation efforts by supporting the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation. The popular restaurant, with locations in Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach, has stepped up as a gold sponsor for Wines in the Wild, a gala that will take place in January to benefit the SCCF’s mission of protecting the area’s coastal ecosystems.
The gala, a key fundraising event, has sold out quickly this year, with proceeds supporting the foundation’s work on wildlife conservation, land preservation, and environmental education. In addition to its sponsorship, Doc Ford’s donated $2,500 to the event. The money will help fund the foundation’s ongoing research and monitoring programs, which include efforts to protect sea turtles, shorebirds, and aquatic life, as well as programs for improving water quality in the region.
Doc Ford’s Conservation Efforts:
Doc Ford’s ties to local conservation efforts run deep. The restaurant group has been a supporter of the SCCF for years, with Joe Harrity, a partner in the group, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding Southwest Florida’s unique coastal environment. Doc Ford’s also plays a key role in the annual “Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament, which has raised over $1.3 million for research at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
Beyond just protecting wildlife, the restaurant group regularly contributes to several local charities. They help fund organizations like SanCap Cares, FISH of SANCAP, and children’s hospitals in Fort Myers and St. Petersburg. Even their specialty cocktails, served at Doc Ford’s locations, raise money for initiatives like Captains For Clean Water.
Locals and visitors alike are drawn to Doc Ford’s for its great seafood and laid-back atmosphere. Known for its flavorful Caribbean-inspired dishes, it has become a go-to spot for dining and live music in the area. And with a deep sense of community, they’re making sure Southwest Florida stays as beautiful as it is for generations to come.
