Caloosahatchee Bridge Repairs Finish 416 Days Early
“Construction crews worked a day and night shift continuously for 10 weeks which accelerated the completion of the project by 416 days,” said Kathy to Fox 4 News. “The 10-week full bridge closure marked the completion of phase I, which included replacing the bridge deck, installing a median barrier wall, and adding a guardrail on the northbound side.”
An 8-foot path runs along the west side of the south span, giving people a safe way to walk. New double-arm lights shine down from the new center barrier.
Good traffic light timing by FDOT kept cars moving during construction. Going from one-lane closures to fully closing the bridge made the quick finish possible. During the first shutdown, crews installed the north guardrail without any traffic to deal with.
By early 2025, once the final work is done, the bridge will be safer for everyone traveling between these coastal cities.
