Craigslist Ad for Crack Leads Florida Cops Straight to Buyer
Craigslist is sometimes known for its strange ads, but this one takes the cake, or in this case, the eight ball. A Florida man decided to post online that he was “new to the area” and on the hunt for crack or ice. Oh, he found the “hookup,” but it wasn’t what he expected.
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office wasn’t about to let that slide. According to FOX13, Investigators saw the post, went undercover as sellers, and set up a meeting with the man behind the keyboard, Anthony Mata. Mata wasted no time haggling, agreeing to buy $80 worth of meth. Smooth move, right?
Craigslist Ad Fail:
When the time came, Mata showed up, ready to do business. But instead of a quick transaction, he got himself a front-row seat to a police takedown. Deputies jumped in right after the cash and drugs changed hands, putting an end to his brief adventure into Florida’s drug scene.
Turns out Mata didn’t roll solo, either. His buddy, Stephen Hornsby, was there too, playing backup. Both men ended up in cuffs too. Mata busted for buying meth and misusing his phone to make it all happen, and Hornsby for helping out.
This little Craigslist escapade just shows that some ads should stay in the drafts dude. I mean, what did Mata think was going to happen? Craigslist isn’t the secret door to the dope underworld! It’s where you get secondhand couches and sketchy job offers, not drugs!
Mata and Hornsby now have a different kind of ad to look forward to.. Their mugshots and charges making headlines! Hopefully, they’ll think twice before trying to negotiate deals on the world’s least anonymous type of marketplace again. Remember guys… If you’re going to play stupid games, be ready for the stupid prizes.
