Reservations Are Opening For Sundial Beach Resort On Sanibel
It’s been a slow road to recovery in Southwest Florida for many residents and business owners after Hurricane Ian. It’s been more than a year since the monster storm and the number of businesses closed on Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel still out-number those that have been able to reopen. However, every month that passes brings more positive news in hurricane recovery. Here is one. Reservations are opening for Sundial Beach Resort on Sanibel Island.
The resort has been closed for over a year and is still closed today. However, owners and managers finally see a light at the end of that long renovation tunnel. The phnotos here were taken before Hurricane Ian.
The Sundial has been a longtime favorite place to stay, play and dine on Sanibel. When I first moed to town, its pool bar was legendary and there was always a party on the weekend. Over the years, locals were still welcomed, but not allowed to take over. Several years ago the property underwent a major renovation. The condo-like rooms all have fully equipted kitchens and comfortable living space.
The entrance to The Sundial Beach Resort & Spa was always lush and welcoming. Owners are busy restoring it for an August reopening.
Details about the opening for Sundial Beach Resort
Reservations lines open on Monday, January 8th. However, occupancy does not begin until August 3rd. You can be among the first to get a new, renovated room on the beach for summer but there are some limitations. The stays are Saturday to Saturday. Rooms that will be initially available include two-bedroom, two-bedroom grande, and three-bedroom.
During the summer stays, resort officials say the main pool will be open. However, they warn construction will be ongoing so be prepared for some occassional noise. Click here for more information including links to the reservation page.
Businesses That Have Reopened On Sanibel And Captiva Since Hurricane Ian
When Hurricane Ian hit SWFL Florida in September, Sanibel and Captiva were absolutely devastated, but businesses are starting to reopen on the islands.
I love being able to support local businesses and I think now more than ever they need our help. It’s so sad to see what the storm did to our islands. While it’ll take a long time for things to look like they did pre-Ian, I love to see businesses starting to get back on their feet. We live in paradise, so whatever we can do to support our local economy is important.
I’ve been spending my weekends either at Fort Myers Beach or Sanibel and it makes me so happy to see so many people out enjoying the beach. Almost like nothing ever happened. Also great to see some new things have opened or relocated and even some make-shift bars and ice cream stands (on Fort Myers Beach) set up.
If you want to go out to the islands, whether it’s for a staycation, a beach day, or to grab a bite to eat, you have options! SanCap Chamber put together a list of the businesses that have reopened on Sanibel and Captiva. You can check out the full list here, but below we’ll have restaurants, lodging, shopping and fun things to do.
