Dolly Parton Says Recording with Stevie Nicks Was ‘The Most Fun’
Dolly Parton is opening up about the making of her upcoming rock album, Rockstar, which comes out on November 17.
In a new interview with Hits Daily Double, she says the most fun collaboration she had on Rockstar was with Stevie Nicks. The song featuring Nicks titled “What Has Rock ‘n’ Roll Ever Done for You” is one of nine original tracks on Rockstar. (The album boasts a staggering 30 tracks.) In fact, “What Has Rock ‘n’ Roll Ever Done for You” has an interesting backstory.
Parton says, “It’s a song she wrote back in the ’70s, I think, and had never put on a record but had always wanted to … We take our music seriously, but that one we could have fun with.”
Parton and Nicks caused quite a stir on social media back in January. Nicks took to Instagram to share a photo of her and Parton sitting at a large mixing board to celebrate Parton’s birthday. Nicks captioned the photo, “Happy birthday to my new friend, Dolly! Had so much fun singing with you!”
The comment section blew up with fans sharing their adoration for the photo. One fan commented simply, “My moms [crying emoji.]” Another fan wrote, “This is the hair I aspire to.” Perhaps the funniest comment was, “Pissing my f—ing pants. Best collab since Mary and the immaculate conception.”
Nicks, of course, is one of many rockers appearing on Rockstar. Keep scrolling to see who’s all confirmed.
