Orlando Florida Woman Who Laced A Wedding Lasagna With Weed Is Now Being Sued By A Guest For “Marijuana Poisoning”
Florida Woman Joycelyn Bryant of Orlando is already facing felony charges for her dank lasagna. Now she’s facing a lawsuit from one of the wedding guests as well.
Back in February, Jocelyn’s catering service, Joycelyn’s Southern Kitchen, was working a wedding in Longwood, just north of Orlando. First responders showed up after a wedding guest called 911 because he was “feeling weird.” Other guests also began to feel the effects and according to Fox 34 “At least one guest was taken to the hospital.” Deputies collected food and after lab testing it was shown that the lasagna has THC in it. Bryant, and the bride Danya Glenny, were both arrested and charged with delivery of marijuana, culpable negligence and breaking the Florida anti-tampering act. Not the groom. My guess is he wasn’t in on the ‘joke’.
Now one person is suing. As reported by Click Orlando, “Virginia Ann Taylor-Svoboda, filed a lawsuit against Bryant, which says the caterer knowingly allowed the food to be served while laced with marijuana. Taylor-Svoboda became immediately ill and suffered serious, permanent injuries from the marijuana poisoning, according to the lawsuit. Court documents show she is seeking more than $30,000 in damages.”
I agree, giving edibles to someone who doesn’t know is wrong. But claiming you suffered serious and permanent injury from marijuana poisoning seems a bit of a stretch. And $30,000 for what was probably an ill fated joke? Hate to see an Orlando Florida woman business and livelihood destroyed like that. Is marijuana poisoning a real thing?
