Wave of Restaurant Closures Hits Cape Coral as El Tropical Announces February Exit
After 15 years of serving up Cuban cuisine, El Tropical shut down its Cape Coral location in December 2024. Their closing adds to the growing list of restaurants calling it quits in the city recently.
Posted notices at the restaurant noted the closure. They do hope to open the restaurant in a new location in February. The area lost three other eateries in December 2024 — Luciano’s Too, Eight-Foot Brewing, and Pi Theory Pizza.
City regulations derailed Eight-Foot Brewing’s plans to relocate. As for Pi Theory, its owner decided to move on to pursue a new venture, focusing on a cafe they purchased a few months ago.
While Zen Deli left Cape Coral, they’re still running their Fort Myers location. Divine Donuts will close its Cape shop on Jan. 27, 2025, due to low profits and high expenses, though its Fort Myers store remains open.
Fat Boys Pizza and Subs is taking over Luciano’s old location, turning it into a sports bar.
