Review: Chicago At Broadway Palm
I’m a huge fan of live theater and this Friday I was invited to opening night of Chicago at Broadway Palm and it might be the best one yet.
We’re so lucky in Fort Myers to have the Broadway Palm, a wonderful venue for live theater. I go to all the shows and both the plays and the musicals are fantastic. The acting is incredible, as is in the singing and dancing. I always leave just absolutely blown away. I brought my parents on Friday, and leaving the theater not only were we raving about Chicago, but everyone around us was too.
Review: Chicago At Broadway Palm
Chicago has long been one of my favorite musicals, ever since I saw the movie in the early 2000’s, but I never got a chance to see if live until Friday night. If you’re unfamiliar, the story follows Roxie Hart who murders her side piece, hires a lawyer to get her in the headlines and has a jail rival with cellmate Velma Kelly.
Chicago is the longest running American musical in Broadway history so the bar was set pretty high. And let me tell you, they delivered. The acting, the dancing, the costuming..My favorite song was the Cell Block Tango with all the girls telling their tales of murder, but I also had Velma’s All That Jazz in my head all weekend. Ellie Roddy who plays Roxie had the greatest facial expressions and her voice was just perfect for the role. And her and Taylor Lane, who plays Velma, make the perfect pair. I would go back and see this again and again.
Chicago runs through November 9th and you can find tickets here
