Florida Teen Busted After Officers Find Nitrous Tank And Marijuana In Car
The series of stupidity in this arrest is really what got the Florida teen busted. Did they need the nitrous for some at home dentistry, or to make their car faster a la Fast and Furious? My guess is neither. Here’s how it went down.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stopped an Acura sedan at approximately 10:28 p.m. near Mile Marker 26 for having no lights. There was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A large tank of nitrous oxide and approximately 25.9 grams of marijuana belonging to Flores was found in the subsequent search. It’s kind of hard to hide a large nitrous tank in an Acura. And that’s a decent amount of weed.
Allison Dawn Mansen, 21, of Miami, Florida, stated she bought the nitrous oxide in Homestead, Florida, and used the money of Yelson Eduardo Corrales Flores, 19, of Key Largo, to do so. So… they had a large tank of nitrous and almost an ounce of weed in the car. Quite the rolling party.
In Fast and Furious they called it NOS, and they didn’t inhale it, it made their cars accelerate. Vin Diesel knows.
Florida Teen Busted
An extra charge was added because another passenger in the car was only 17 years old. Ouch. The totals?
• Yelson Eduardo Corrales Flores, 19, of Key Largo, Florida, was charged with unlawful distribution of nitrous oxide, possession of marijuana, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
• Allison Dawn Mansen, 21, of Miami, Florida, was charged with unlawful distribution of nitrous oxide and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
So I looked up what got the Florida teen busted, and driving with a nitrous tank is definitely illegal. “Any person who knowingly distributes, sells, purchases, transfers, or possesses more than 16 grams of nitrous oxide commits a felony of the third degree.” I’m guessing Yelson was unable to convince the deputies that he was an aspiring dentist, so they had another plans for that large tank of nitrous.
Also, lesson learned here. When you’re in your car doing something this illegal, don’t draw attention to yourself. Driving down US 1 with no headlights – that dumb move got this Florida teen busted. And his girl, too. The 17 year old was not charged.
