Is ‘Eyechat’ The New Chatroulette Without The Unwanted Flashing?
Eyechat is a new app that’s similar to Chatroulette, only it focuses only on your eyes. Will it end up with the same issues as Chatroulette?
It’s definitely a different approach on video chatting. However, it looks like it might not prevent people from getting weird on the screen. Will this one actually take off?
Eyechat Could Be The New Chatroulette
Do you remember Chatroulette? It was incredibly popular for a brief moment circa 2009. You’d connect with people from all over the world on a Skype-like video chat program. It could have been very cool and a great way to meet new people from different places you’ve never been. However, it ended up just being a bunch of people touching their junk on screen in front of you. It was horrible and it seemingly happened every time you tried to connect. I’m pretty sure that’s what ended up killing the app.
Eyechat is looking to make a name for itself in the video chat world without all the unwanted flashing. According to Boing Boing, Neal Agarwal is the creating coding genius behind Neal.fun which has free browser games like Draw Logos From Memory, Space Elevator, Days Since Incident, and more. Now, he’s bringing us Eyechat.
You turn on your web camera and it will crop out everything except your eyeballs. Then, you match with a stranger and you’ll literally be eye-to-eye with someone random. It sounds like there isn’t even sound involved! It’s nothing but you gazing at them and them gazing at you. This sounds like creeps are going to find a way to creep on here. Maybe it sets to your eyes then you stand on a chair and put your privates where the eyes were? I’m not sure how they’ll do it but the fact that there’s no audio makes me a bit skeptical.
Would you use it? I don’t know if I trust it! See more here.
Who is this for? Why would it not include audio? You’re just supposed to stare at someone while they look at you? I don’t know! I feel like this will turn sexual very fast. Especially once people compare it to Chatroulette that will make some perverts think their favorite technology is back and will give them something to do. I want no part in any of that! Would you use it? Or would you be scared of what you might find?
