Did 1 shark attack 4 people off South Padre Island on the 4th of July? That’s what some reports are saying, and video from the scene is chaotic!
It’s like something out of Jaws! That movie was also famously set during the 4th of July weekend, and now our national nightmare has come true! 4 people were reportedly attacked by what many believe was the same shark! Here’s more on the shark attack story.
4 Shark Attacks Reported Off South Padre Island On The 4th Of July
ABC News reports that 4 people are believed to have been injured by the same shark off South Padre Island on the 4th of July. They were reportedly 4 separate incidents which did include 2 bites. Now, there’s reason to believe it was the same shark causing harm in the waters.
Video was trending on social media yesterday afternoon showing people dragging one woman out of the water as witnesses scream and cry about what they just saw happen. People seem to be in shock as they notice the amount of blood and the massive chunk missing from the woman’s leg. The injury was definitely severe. It appears that emergency crews were able to quickly get to her and an officer can be seen helping her out in the video. You can watch that NSFW video below.
During the video, the person filming alternates from showing the victim to showing the water where you can see a shark swimming just off the coast. It certainly appears that it’s the shark believed to have done all of these attacks. It sounds like the shark ended up swimming away into open waters and there are no plans to go out and obtain it at this time. ABC News reports that a second person was bitten by the shark while another person was grazed, and a fourth was injured fending off the shark.
A statement from the South Padre Island Beach patrol on ABC News reads, “Shark encounters of this nature are not a common occurrence in Texas. When bites from sharks do occur, they are usually a case of mistaken identity by sharks looking for food.”
