Kim Kardashian Pitched Her Own ‘Sex And The City’ Type Show
Kim Kardashian is trying to land more roles as an actress. On Thursday’s (May 30) episode of The Kardashians, the 43-year-old reality star celebrates the premiere of her season of American Horror Story: Delicate, where she plays high-profile publicist Siobhan Corbyn.
Kim Kardashian Pitched A Lead Role
Kardashian’s role in the 12th season of Ryan Murphy's popular horror series was met with praise, so the television producer approached her about doing her own show on the latest episode of The Kardashians. Kim and her momager, Kris Jenner, met with Murphy, who wanted to create “some great reality show about style,” but Kim said, “No, I kinda want to act.” After Kim planted the “seed” in his head, Murphy wrote the part of Siobhan specifically for Kim.
“You were really, really good to the point where they called me and were like, ‘Do you think Kim would want to do her own show?'” Ryan says as the Skims creator’s eyes widen. “F—, what did I get myself into?” Kim laughs while in her confessional interview. “Can I really pull this off? But I think I can.”
The Dahmer creator then pitches the series, which will see Kim as the “world’s best, most expensive divorce lawyer. And she has her own firm, and the thing about her firm is it’s an all-female firm.” Kim looks at the camera and jokes, “I have some experience,” adding that the all-female-firm is “on brand.”
As Kim has noted in the previous season, she is often over-booked and repeats the same after she was pitched the role, but “it’s so different from what I do, and it’s such a challenge for me. And I just, I love the challenge, so I just want to see this out.”
The Sex and the City-Type Series
Murphy continued to expand on the new series, which he described “has what Sex and the City has, which is girlfriends. It has a bond of women trying to get through an experience together.” Calling to Kim’s real-life aspirations to be a lawyer, Murphy adds the “best catchphrase ever” with, “Not only am I a lawyer, but I play one on TV!” Kim says in the episode that she will take the bar exam again in 2025, and once that’s over, she’s “golden.”
As we previously reported, this marks the first series for Murphy under his new deal at Disney after previously being signed with Netflix. Murphy shared his excitement for the reality star joining AHS when the announcement was made last April. He said Kim is “among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture.” He said that Kim’s role was going to be “fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying.” Of the Delicate season, Murphy said it was “ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”
Murphy was initially interested in casting Kim for the role after he saw her Saturday Night Live hosting debut in October 2021. The role marks her biggest acting gig before AHS. She had minor roles in 2009’s Disaster Movie, CSI: NY, and Drop Dead Diva. She also played herself in How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, and Two Broke Girls.
